Grouting Services has delivered some of New Zealand’s most significant Ground Anchoring projects and we are proud to say that the success of these has ensured growing volumes of repeat business.
This is a testament to the way we work with our clients, and the best possible quality products that we insist on using on these key projects.
Reflecting a strategy of continual improvement, we are pleased to announce our partnership with SAMWOO as the sole distributor of their innovative anchors in New Zealand. Established in 1993, SAMWOO has been endeavouring to be the leader in the ground anchor industry. Through extensive and continuous R&D and advanced quality control SAMWOO has established itself as the leading representative of ground anchor systems in Korea. In addition, SAMWOO has opened branch offices and established partnerships in North America, Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. Since SAMWOO's initial development of the removable and permanent load distributive anchors, their systems have been employed in numerous applications around the world.
With ground anchor technology advancing all the time, our teaming up with SAMWOO means our New Zealand clients will have access to world-leading technology, including:
Removable, compressive, distributive anchors (SW-RCD)
Permanent, tensile, distributive anchors (SW-SMART)
Permanent, compressive, distributive anchors (SW-PCD)
Permanent, tensile, frictional anchors (SW-PTF)
Take a look at an overview of the RCD anchor in this video Samwoo RCD Anchors
SW-RCD Anchor
The SW-RCD anchor is a load distributive compression type removable anchor that offers a complete solution where anchorage systems required to be removed once they become redundant. Often city municipalities and the like, object to obstructions left in the ground beyond completion of construction for fear they will conflict with future developments or seek third party approval. The SW-RCD anchors are a cost effective solutions where the use of conventional tieback anchors are forbidden or discarded due to logistical and or practical site constraints. The entire steel strand can be quickly and easily removed or reengaged with limited site access. Simply rotate the strand to release the wedges which are fixed in the end of the anchor body and the entire steel strand is easily withdrawn through the PE sheath leaving the small aluminium anchor body. The removal process is generally done by hand. In addition, allowing the steel strand to penetrate through the inside and be secured to the end of the anchor body, distributes the jacking force along the length of the anchor body which maximizes the effective cross-sectional area of the grout body. Since their initial development these anchors have been employed in numerous projects around the world providing lateral support to temporary sheeting and shoring conditions.
Removal principle of the SW-RCD anchor
When fixing the SW-RCD anchor, the removal screw ① is located at the upper groove of the wedge, and the strand is completely bound at this point. After completing the construction and when removing the strand, the confining force is dissolved by cutting the head part of the anchor, and strand ②, wedge ③, and removal screw ① has weak confining forces. Then, by rotating strand ②, the removal screw moves to the removal net ④ inside of the upper head cap, and the wedge also moves. Therefore, the strand is freed from confinement, and removed.
The SW-RCD anchor is manufactured in a semi-automated standardised facility with state of the art equipment resulting in stringent quality control. Anchors are fully assembled and packaged in coils for transportation. The SW-RCD anchor is an internationally patented product with the design based on compression type, load distribution theory.
SW-SMART Anchor
The SW-SMART anchor is a load distributive tension type removable anchor designed to uniformly transfer skin friction to the grout body and soil throughout the entire bond length rather than applying a concentrated force at the distal end of the anchor body. This anchor has been developed for the purpose of securing anchorage force in relatively weak soils of approx. N ≤10. Removal of the SW-SMART anchor is performed similar to that of the SW-RCD anchor. The steel strands along the free length of the anchor are housed in a plastic polyethylene sheath and are fully removable by disengaging the wedge in the small coupler separating the free length and the fixed length zones. The strands in the fixed zones remain permanently in the ground. They are also referred to as Single Bore Multiple Anchors (SBMA). The anchor system involves the installation of multiple anchor units into a single borehole. Each unit has its own individual tendon, its own fixed length within the borehole and is loaded with its own unit stressing jack.
The SW-SMART anchor is based on tension type, load distribution theory.
SW-PCD Anchor
The SW-PCD anchor is a load distributive compression type permanent anchor which utilizes extruded steel strand for outstanding rust and corrosion resistance. The SW-PCD anchor is manufactured so that the extruded steel strand penetrates through the inside and secures to the end of the anchor body. This design distributes the jacking force along the length of the anchor body which maximizes the effective cross-sectional area of the grout body. Therefore, the compressive force transferred to the grout body is much higher than conventional compression type anchors. The SW-PCD anchors are used largely for permanent sheathing and shoring, tiedown anchors to resist buoyancy forces, slope stability and landslide control as well as numerous other applications. The SW-PCD anchor consists of multiple unit anchors in a single borehole and each unit anchor has its own individual tendon and is loaded with its own unit stressing jack.
The SW-PCD permanent anchor is manufactured using extruded greased steel strand for maximum rust and corrosion resistance, which is individually secured to the end of the anchor unit with greased grippers / end blocks placed inside stainless steel sleeves and end caps with rubber rings. The anchor unit is created by die-casting techniques using aluminium metals.
The SW-PCD permanent anchor is manufactured in a semi-automated standardised facility with state of the art equipment resulting stringent quality control and outstanding quality assurance. Anchors are fully assembled and packaged in coils for transportation.
SW-PTF Anchor
The SW-PTF anchor system is a tensile-frictional type permanent anchor system, which has been widely used in Korea and overseas, with sufficient research results and application history. It has outstanding corrosion and rust protection, and is used for various permanent purposes such as lift up resistance, supplementation and stabilisation of cut sections at new load and additional construction area, stabilisation of slope, supplementation of walls, and stabilisation of tunnel pit mouths based on its advanced quality obtained through standard production process.
There are two types according to the form of the Nose-cone; an open type and a closed type:
Anchors are manufactured using steel strand to distribute the load into the ground and are fully housed in a high density polyethylene corrugated sheath for long term corrosion protection. The strands in the bond zone are bare while the free length is greased and sheathed to isolate this portion of the anchor from the grout and allow for elongation during stressing. This type of anchor can be designed for a life expectancy of up to 100 years.
