Grouting Services is proud to have supported Leighs Construction Ltd on the development at 186 Vctoria St in Auckland Central. The project involved constructing a new multi-storey carpark and office building. Neighbouring buildings founded on shallow foundations dictated a permanent retention solution to deal with excavations of up to 5m below existing ground level. Due to the high surcharge loads from the adjacent buildings, and, the proximity of these foundations, 750mm diameter concrete piles were utilised in conjunction with permanent multi-strand anchors terminated within a concrete capping beam to limit lateral wall deflections. A total of 16No multi-strand permanent anchors were installed. The anchors were nominally 18.5m in length and comprised strand configurations of between 8-9No 15.2mm superstrands. Drilling was undertaken using track mounted rigs with rotary wash drilling techniques.
