The NZ$790 million redevelopment of Westfield Newmarket is well underway and will create a world-class retail and lifestyle destination in the heart of Auckland. The four and a half hectare site will have in excess of 80,000sq.m of lettable area and is due for complete late January 2019. It will be home to Auckland’s first David Jones department store, a new format Farmers department store, a Countdown supermarket and more than 230 new specialty stores.
Grouting Services is pleased to be supporting main contractor Contract Landscapes with the enabling works package on both the 277 Broadway and 309 Broadway sites. Early engagement resulted in a number of design innovations being adopted which resulted in savings to the client.
Proving trial anchors were undertaken to verify grout-to-ground bond. Material substitutions were adopted. Large diameter stress bars (75mm Macalloy) were also tensioned to new foundations to support the new structure.
With multiple work fronts, varying ground conditions and site access constraints, Grouting Services was easily able to service the work with its range of specialist anchoring rigs and configurations.
