Back to School…Great to see the progress being made by Grouting Services on the strengthening works to this existing basalt block retaining wall in Auckland. The solution developed by Sullivan Hall included a sprayed concrete hard facing coupled with rock bolts to secure the wall. The integrity of the existing basalt block meant that diamond coring was carried out ahead of the percussion drilling works. The sprayed concrete was also completed prior to the drilling works commencing. An overburden casing system was required to successfully put down each drill hole and grout socks were used to mitigate grout loss in the rubbly ground encountered behind the existing wall.
