Special Foundations Drilling

For more than 40 years, Grouting Services has delivered some of New Zealand’s most significant Ground Anchoring, Soil Nailing, Micro-Piling and Post-Tensioning contracts. We have a wide range of drilling equipment available including the very versatile, functional and restricted access Comacchio MC400 MP. This is a proprietary hydraulic crawler-mounted drill rig with remote hydraulic power pack. It is especially designed for specialised work in narrow spaces, inside buildings / basements and small tunnels and therefore well suited to micro-piling applications. The drill rig is able to operate all rotary and/or rotary percussion drilling systems and the advanced manoeuvrability allows for a wide range of drilling positions to be achieved. In the photo below, the rig was used to run in overburden casing through manky ground to enable double corrosion protected bar anchors to be installed to provide seismic restraint to an existing bridge abutment in Auckland. The anchors comprised 32mm bar and lengths ranged from 8m to 15m in a 168mm hole.
