The White Rabbit Micropiling

Grouting Services is pleased to be supporting China Construction NZ on the strengthening works required for the existing 1876 Heritage-listed building on the corner of Gore Street and Customs Street East in Auckland. The White Rabbit requires support while the adjacent building is demolished and a diaphragm wall installed to support a deep excavation for a new multi-level structure. The existing building is to be strengthened and supported by a framework of steel beams and columns and these beams in turn supported by micropiles. The historical building was supported on “stone plinths” constructed in an area of reclaimed land and founded on the wave-cut platform of East Coast Bays Formation (ECBF) sandstone which extended into the harbour from the old sea cliff along Fort Street. Grouting Services was engaged to design and construct the micropile supports to deal with both compression and tension loads.
