The construction of the new East Tamaki brewery for Lion Nathan on a site of 17 hectares includes seven building areas that cover a total of 60,000m2. The new facility incorporates a state-of-the-art brewery along with wines and spirits manufacturing, and packaging and distribution capability. Called The Pride, it is the largest ever greenfield brewery and beverage development undertaken in Australasia.
Grouting Services was awarded the subcontract for the complete design and construct of the post-tensioned concrete floors that totalled some 50,000m2. The total building footprint was divided up into pour sizes approximating 5,000m2 and a total of 9,500cu.m of concrete and 175T of prestressing strand was used. Management of all subcontract trades including concrete supply, pump, place and finish, joint supply and installation. Post-tensioning works performed in-house. Partners on this project include; VSL Australia (design), Wrathalls The Concrete People (formwork, concrete placing and finishing), Canzac (expansion movement joint supplier) and GDP Flooring Solutions (floor sealing).
